What SEO Measures
SEO determines whether students searching for study materials find this store. Search engines read titles, descriptions, headings, image alt text, and page content, then match against search queries. The better the match, the higher the page appears in results.
Lighthouse gives a technical score (92 for this site) that checks whether SEO tags exist—not whether they contain useful content. The real measure is whether the right content is in the right places. An empty title tag technically passes; a title tag without keywords fails in practice.

On-Page Elements
The clickable headline in search results. Shows in the browser tab. Formula: [Primary Keyword] – [Key Benefit] | Sonographer in the Making. Target under 60 characters. Search engines typically display 50–70 characters on desktop and 30–50 on mobile.
The summary below the title in search results. Formula: [What it is] + [primary benefit] + [differentiator] + [CTA]. Target 150–160 characters. Google may rewrite descriptions, but well-written ones improve click-through rates.
The main heading on the page. One per page. Tells search engines what the page is about. Should match or closely relate to the title tag. Product pages and collection pages need H1 tags to establish semantic structure.
Describes what's in an image. Used by screen readers and image search. Every product image should have descriptive alt text including the product name and key context. Format: "Product Name – Brief description." Example: "Ultrasound Physics Study Guide – Page sample showing wave equations."
Clean, readable URLs with keywords. Shopify handles this well with /products/product-name and /collections/collection-name patterns. URLs should be lowercase, hyphenated, and descriptive. Avoid product IDs or numbers when possible.
Structured data telling search engines the page contains a product, FAQ, or organization. Enables rich results in search (star ratings, prices, FAQ dropdowns). Currently correct on products, collections, and FAQs. Missing on Our Story and Contact pages.
Educational articles targeting long-tail queries. Competitors with blogs have significantly more indexed pages and organic traffic. A single blog post linking to 3–4 products multiplies reach. Posts should be 1,200–1,800 words, include relevant keywords naturally, and link internally.
